Elaine M Whitney

Elaine attended Notre Dame High School and later went on to obtain her certificate in business school. She worked as a Civil Service Secretary for the Department of Defense. Elaine was a member of Saint John United Church of Christ. After her parents retired in the 90's, Elaine cared for them for years and enjoyed baking cakes for her dad once a week. She loved traveling to visit her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and a great cook.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, W. David and Mildred Lawrence; her first husband, Ralph Earl Penny, second husband, Amel "Chet" Burchett, and third husband, Bob Whitney; daughter, Linda S Penny.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Lang and Sharon Moayer; grandchildren, Shawn Miner, Sarah Stellern, Christopher Stellern Michael Lang and Eric Moayer.

A visitation for Elaine will be held Monday, June 9, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL 62208. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 9, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL 62208. A committal service will follow the funeral service.

Elaine will be laid to rest at Lake View Memorial Gardens.
