Floyd Ray Worthen

Floyd Ray Worthen, age 77, of Shipman, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred (Poston) Worthen; a beloved son, Shawn Worthen; and a brother-in-law, Sid Williams.

Floyd is survived by his loving wife, Revena “Charlene” (Knight); his children, Kimberly (Robert) Orahood, Angela (Lance) Fraley, and daughter-in-law, Vicki Bruhn; as well as his stepchildren, Christina (Jack) McEuen, Larry (Sandra) Kenshalo, Kathryn Colborn, and Robert Kenshalo. He was a doting Pa Pa to Jennifer (Rowdy) Rossing, Robyn (Thomas) Charter, Joshua Fraley, Samantha Worthen, Adam (Krystal) Fraley, Jesse (Sydney) Fraley, Becca Ellison, and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Floyd also leaves behind his siblings: Barbara Williams, Robert (Allison) Worthen, and Kenneth (Phyllis) Worthen.

Floyd learned the value of hard work and dedication from an early age. He answered the call to serve in Germany during the Vietnam War, embodying the true spirit of sacrifice and patriotism. After his service, he built a life rooted in faith, family, and the simple joys of everyday living. An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, he rarely missed a game, cheering for his team. He also joined Charlene in celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs.

Above all, Floyd was a man of deep faith. His trust in the Lord guided his every step, and he lived by example, showing kindness, patience, and unwavering belief in God’s plan. Rest easy, Floyd; may your spirit remain in our hearts forever.

A visitation for Floyd will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Lake View Funeral Home, located at 5000 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Floyd will be laid to rest at Lake View Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
