Mr. Meek was fervently devoted to his family as a loving husband, father, grandad and great grandad.
Glenn was a devoted worker who always gravitated to a leadership position no matter what he was involved in. For close-to 40 years, he worked as a permit engineer for the Illinois Department of Transportation and was active in the Illinois Association of Highway Engineers, serving as an officer at the District and state levels. His loving dedication to organizations such as Junior Achievement, Khoury League, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Junior Chamber of Commerce blessed many. He loved golf and the wonderful cabin retreat he and his father built in 1949.
Mr. Meek was preceded in death by his birth father and mother, James Virgil and Martha Anna (Boyer) Jackson; his special adoptive father and mother, Fred James and Hazel, nee Atteberry, Meek; an infant brother, James Harry; a brother, Chester Jackson; and two sisters, Elsie Harris and Gladys Warshol.
Glenn is survived by the love his life, Fairy Belle (Boyd), whom he married February 24, 1951. Their love spanned from teen years in Junior Achievement to 63 years of a marriage which has inspired their children.
Also surviving are children, Robin (Ruth) Meek, Carey (Connie) Meek, Laurie (Brad) Watkins, Ann (Logan) Dierksen; nine grandchildren, Amber (Ehsan) Malek, Lindy (Josh) Agate, Teresa Hale, Enid (Taylor) Watkins Holleyman, Brynn (Aaron) Watkins-Craig, Taylor Watkins, Kelsey (Francisco) Rubio, Katryn and Logan Dierksen; four great grandchildren, Parisa Belle and Cyrus Glenn Malek, Eliana Benedetta and Clark Belle Agate; two future great grandsons; his sisters, Lucille Young and Jane Balay; and numerous nieces, nephews, “adopted” children, neighbors and friends who always knew they could count on Glenn Meek.
