Skip was born August 23, 1954 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Henry Mize and Mary Mize (nee Pothanus).
In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike (Gale) Bell, and his godson Richard Hester.
Skip married Cindy Mize (nee Bell), the love of his life, on October 27, 1978.
He was Chief of Police for Shiloh and East Cardonelet. After many years on the police force, After 35+ years in law enforcement, Skip retired as Chief of Police from Lenzeburg police department. He and his business partner and best friend Tonna Hester, were owners of Forensic Investigations Unlimited Inc. in Caseyville, IL. He and Cindy were pioneers of Where Jesus Comes First Ministries in Belleville, IL. He was a member of Convent Worship Center, Backstoppers, and St. Clair County Deputy Reserves. He enjoyed being a Hamm radio operator, hunting, fishing, and flea markets.
Skip is survived by his wife Cindy; business partner and best friend Tonna Hester; godchildren, Stepenie Hester, Kaliegh Regan, Mya Regan, Jimmy Fowler, Kyle Regan, and Jaxxon Hester; brother-in-law, Gerald (Wanda) Bell and Ronnie (Maryann) Bell Sr.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
