

Mr. Whitfield was a barber for over 55 years. He owned and operated Gentleman Jim’s Barber Shop. Mr. Whitfield was a graduate of Belleville Barber College. He was a former member of the Jaycee’s and a former volunteer and sponsor of the Fairview Heights Khoury League. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairview Heights.
He was preceded in death by his father; Howard L. Whitfield Sr. his mother and stepfather; Lola Whitfield-Caciano, nee Mathenia and Joseph Caciano.
Surviving is his wife Elizabeth “Betty” Whitfield, nee Wilson, two daughters; Beth (Don) Cocker of O’Fallon, Illinois, and Becky (Miro) Cuturic of Elgin, South Carolina, five grandchildren; Jessica (Rob) McDaniel, James (Kira) Whitfield, Shaina Cocker, Ava Cuturic, and Luka Cuturic, great grandchildren; Jessie, Olivia, Desmond, Jack, Evelyn, Toby, Liam, Kyler, and one to be born soon, brothers and sisters; Howard Whitfield Jr., Yvonne (Fred) Halvachs, Joe (Donovan) Caciano, Chris (Nancy) Caciano, Charlie (Marsha) Caciano, Lisa (Bob) Daubach, Linda (Dave) Starkey,
sisters and brothers-in-law; Shirley Wilson, Debi Wilson, Patty Halcomb, John Wilson, and Rita Wilson.
