John Leroy Finley

John Leroy Finley, age 75, of O’Fallon, Missouri passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026. He was born on May 3, 1950 to the late Paul Gene Finley, Sr., and Edna Elizabeth Long. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rebekah Sue (Best) Finley; his second wife, Linda Evelyn (May) Finley; his parents, Paul Gene Finley, Sr., and Edna Elizabeth Long; and his stepfather, Charles Lee Wideman.

John is survived by his children, Carrie (Finley) Rogers, Michael Finley (Laurie Finley), Jason Finley, and Kevin Finley; his three grandchildren, Gabriella Rogers, Timothy Rogers and Rebekah Finley; his siblings, James Finley (Cheryl Finley), Robert Finley (Sharon Finley), Lylia (Wideman) Altom (James Altom), Jesse Wideman (Barb Wideman), Paul Finley, Jr., Paula Rose (Finley) Disalvo (Henry Disalvo) and Becky (Finley) Devereaux (Dennis Devereaux); and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

John worked in multiple positions during his more than forty-one-year career at General Motors. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family at home and at the farm. Some summers he put out a nearly half acre vegetable garden. His specialty was peppers and tomatoes—a nod to his Italian ancestry. John enjoyed few things more than hunting and fishing with his brothers, children, wife and grandchildren. In earlier years, he also loved playing card games, such as Shanghai Rummy, with his children, siblings, aunts, uncles, mother and grandmother.

Though he was quiet by nature, John loved to laugh at funny stories from his past and at memorable moments in his favorite shows. He was genuinely good-natured, had a big heart, and was always willing to give to others in times of need, while rarely spending much money on himself. John will be deeply missed by all.

VISITATION: Monday, February 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Lake View Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.

SERVICE: Monday, February 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with interment to follow at Lake View Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens
