John Sager Jr.

John Sager Jr., 94, of Versailles, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023. He was born April 5, 1928 in Millstadt, Illinois to John and Nettie (Arras) Sager Sr. John was a veteran of the United States Navy. He married Mary Fellows March 3, 1995 in Versailles, Missouri. He retired from Chicago and North Western Railroad after 40 years of service. John was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Sager; children, Michael Sager of Dupo, IL and Kathy (Art) Sippo of Highland, IL; step-children, Sally Hunter of Versailles, MO, Shirley (Denzil) Sumner of Versailles, MO, Sharon (George) Williams of Treasure Island, FL, Mark (Lynda) Daniels of Versailles, MO, Nancy (Wayne) Upham of Hereford, AZ and Roger Joe Gamron of Richmond, TX; grandchildren, Bradley (Jessie) Sager, Natalie (Billy) Steppig, Tiffany (Ian) Sippo-Fisher, Courtney Sippo and Tina Robinson; great-grandchildren, Yvette Robinson, Hadley Steppig, Cooper Steppig, Amelia Sager and Remi Sager and brother, David (Brenda) Sager. John is preceded in death by his parents, 6 siblings and great-grandson, Sean Sippo.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 11:00am in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208 with visitation from 10:00am until time of service. Interment will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 10:30am in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to American Legion Post 581, Columbia, IL.
