Marlene Merriman

Marlene was born November 6, 1935 in Woodhull, IL to Earl and Bernice (Else) Elliott. She married Dearold Merriman on July 10, 1955 in Woodhull, IL. Together, they shared 66 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2021. Marlene was a patient care technician and rehabilitation aid at Parkview Colonial Manor for 25 years. She then spent several years working at Walmart. Marlene was a member of First United Methodist Church in O’Fallon, IL. In her younger years, she and Dearold enjoyed square dancing together. Marlene enjoyed playing bingo, gambling, camping and traveling. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marlene was also preceded in death by her parents; children, Deana Merriman, Marsa Lee Merriman and Jeffrey Merriman; and siblings, Barbara Petty and Allen Elliott.

Surviving are her children, Cindy Browning of Shiloh, IL and Allen Merriman of Florida; grandchildren, Rebecca (Jason) Messenger of St. Louis, MO and Kayla (Kyle) Emmerich of Belleville, IL; and her great-grandsons, Jacob and Austin Messenger and Logan Emmerich.

A funeral service for Marlene will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 12:00pm in Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL 62208 with a visitation from 10:00am until time of service. Burial will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family.
