

Mrs. Kurtz was known as the “Linen Lady” and proudly owned Vintage Linens in Belleville, Illinois. She was an avid reader, writer, and Elvis Presley fan. Mary enjoyed going to flea markets and auctions, but her most precious moments were those spent with her family. She loved life, her family, and her friends and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas F. and Elizabeth A., nee Schilling, Hess; three sisters, Sr. M. Charlotte Hess PHJC, and Betty Hess and Martha Hess, in infancy; two brothers, Joseph Hess and Charles Hess; two sisters-in-law, Ann Hess and Monica Hess; and one brother-in-law, Donald Mechler.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of 35 years, Herman Kurtz; her son, Mike Quigley; her two daughters, Debbie (Jim) Keller and Kim (Jerry) Nunn; three grandchildren, Dawn Patterson, Shawn Quigley and Mackenzie Quigley; three great-grandchildren, Damian Donius, Blaine Donius, and Liam Patterson; three sisters, Alice (Ray) Benner, Cathy Mechler and Mary (Don) Rice; one brother-in-law, Dennis (Nancy) Kurtz; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 in the funeral home chapel with Fr. John Myler officiating. Interment to follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
