Patricia F. Spencer

She met the love of her life, Ralph L. Spencer, who survives her, very early in their lives at East St. Louis High School (Class of Feb.’48) and they were married in 1950, enjoying 66 years of marriage. Pat was very active in the Girl Scouts of America in her youth, and continued to be very active in various social groups throughout the years; including, The Jr. Wednesday Club of East St. Louis, and enjoyed lots of activities with her closest friends in the Supper Club. She enjoyed going to the Lake of the Ozarks for more than 60 years and spending time in her cozy retirement home there. Pat was passionate about collecting Hallmark Christmas ornaments, shopping in catalogues and stocking her food pantry, where every item was dated and kept in a notebook. She worked at the East St. Louis Interurban Water Company for 20 years in accounting, and then for 20 years as Assistant City Treasurer of Fairview Heights. The Spencer’s retired in 1992 and have traveled to all 50 states and Mexico and to many countries in Europe. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in O’Fallon, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Mabel Pippet.

Surviving are her loving husband, Ralph L. Spencer; her two children, Scott D. Spencer, of Washington, D.C. and Julie Ann Spencer, of Belleville, Illinois; her two beautiful grandchildren, Timothy Andrew Spencer, of St. Charles, MO and David Michael Hamann, of Los Angeles, CA; a new wonderful, great-grandchild, Myles Scott Spencer; a sister, Rosemarie Brown, of Shiloh, IL; and many more in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in Pat’s name to the First Baptist Church of O’Fallon or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

Visitation: Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Funeral: Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
