Robert John Eggemeyer

Robert “Bob” John Eggemeyer, age 92, of Belleville, IL passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 17, 2023. He was born in Chester, IL on October 3, 1930 to John and Clara (née Bodeker) Eggemeyer.

Bob married his second wife, Alice Caldwell, in Belleville, IL on December 26, 1970. Their union brought together nine children, four from his previous marriage and five from hers.

Bob was the proud owner and operator of Eggemeyer Mobile Home Heating and Air Conditioning, which he ran for over 50 years. He enjoyed watching Cardinals baseball, feeding birds and squirrels, and woodworking, but above all else he treasured spending time with his family. He was an incredibly kind, honest, loving, and hardworking family man who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert John Williams; bonus children, Roger Caldwell, Richard Caldwell, and Cheryl (Tim) Paridon; sisters, Viola Balaich and Glodean (Herbert) Newbern; and brother, Harold Eggemeyer.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 52 years, Alice (née Woodford) Eggemeyer; children, Sandy Vann, Sharon Harper, and Shirley Iwan; bonus children, Sheila (Doug) Williamson and Jeff (Susan) Caldwell; brother, Willard (Karen) Eggemeyer; brother-in-law, Paul Balaich; daughter-in-law, Gaye Caldwell; plus numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 23, 2023 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL. A funeral service will take place Monday, July 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM, with an additional hour of visitation prior to the service, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, IL. Interment to follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, IL.
