
Rodney had a long career with American Shoe Company working as Manager/District Manager over several states including several locations in Jamestown Mall and St. Clair Square. He then worked for Burkland Distributors until his retirement in 2013. Rod spent his retirement relaxing with his Caseyville VFW family as a member of the Men’s’ Auxiliary along with his club-house brothers down on the Illinois River.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Isselhard who died Jan 1, 2017, his parents, Floyd and Mary Welch-Schwartz and John A. Maxwell, Jr., a brother Larry Schwartz and dear friend and former wife, Sharon Maxwell Henkel.
Left to love him forever are his siblings, Sharon Cooper, Shara (Reggie) Nichols, Ricky (Joan) Schwartz, Sondra (Mike) Eagan and Floyd (Angela) Schwartz, his son Steven, grandchildren Brandi (Justin) Rairden, Dylan and Grace Isselhard, four great-grandchildren along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, life-long friend Dan Weaver, his clubhouse posse and his family at the “V”.
Private memorial services are to be held at the Caseyville VFW at a later date.
