Troy Dean Crites

Troy was born March 21, 1946 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Milford Francis and Mary Laverne (Sandlin) Crites. He married Georgia Irwin on August 18, 1971 in St. Louis, MO; together they shared nearly 53 years of marriage. Georgia survives and resides in Fenton, MO.

Also surviving are his two children, Nicol (Christian Rice) Crites of Los Angeles, CA and Troy Crites of Kirkwood, MO; grandchildren, Coleton Rice (17), Vivian Crites (16), and Jonah Crites (14); and niece, Michelle (Jason) Jensen of Collinsville, IL.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Gary (Marcia) W. Crites.

Troy was a dedicated electrician at Union Electric for 35 years, before his retirement in June 2002. In years past, he was a licensed pilot who loved his time in the air, riding motorcycles, playing guitar, cruising around in his Mazda Miata, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid runner which helped him face his diagnosis head-on. He and Georgia attended Our Savior Lutheran Church where he loved teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir.

Troy’s kindness, caring heart and his love for others will be treasured and will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

A visitation and funeral service will be held at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N. Illinois St., Fairview Heights, IL, 62208 on Thursday, March 28, 2024

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rock Steady Boxing, an organization Troy and Georgia were members of, which helps those affected by neurological diseases stay active and healthy.
