Bill was born to Frank and Frances (nee Kozinski) Pranaitis on October 9, 1947.
Bill graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) with a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations.
A veteran, serving in the United States Army, Bill earned a Purple Heart, the Vietnam Service Medal with (4) Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
Bill worked for the United States Postal Service for 37 years. He was also a life-time member of the Troy VFW.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Frances Pranaitis; two brothers and two sisters.
Bill is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cindy Pranaitis; son, Todd (Karen) Pranaitis; daughter, Tracey Buhl; many nieces and nephews; and two brothers-in-law, Richard (Mary) Herring and Leonard Herring.
A memorial service for Bill will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00am at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208.
