

Lawrence F. Marsalek Bay Village- Lawrence (Larry) Fredrick Marsalek of Bay Village peacefully passed away in his home on August 17th, a day after his 83rd birthday. Born on August 16th, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio to Lawrence and Ethel Marsalek. He married Carol Ann Marsalek (nee Kilday) on June 8th, 1963 in New Orleans. She preceded him in death on June 15th, 2011, after 48 years of marriage. Surviving are his three children Jane Klaus of Bay Village, OH, Tricia (Robert) Dall of Dublin, OH, and Patrick (Sara) Marsalek of Dublin, OH; and his eight grandchildren, Collin, Noah, Sami, Ryan, Ben, Delaney, Caroline, and Grace. Larry received his Bachelor of Science in Sociology from John Carroll University in 1960 and was also in the ROTC program. He went on to serve in the United States Army from 1961 to 1968 achieving the rank of Captain. He was a proud veteran and loved his country. After serving in the Army, Larry worked for American Koyo for 30 years in many roles including the Manager of General Affairs and Assistant Secretary to the General Manager, retiring in 2000. In his free time Larry enjoyed reading history books, canoeing, the outdoors, and was a historical gun enthusiast. He also enjoyed sharing stories about his life experiences and information about our family’s history to his grandchildren. A memorial visitation will be held September 3rd, 4-7pm at Corrigan Craciun Funeral Home, 20820 Lorain Rd. Fairview Park, OH 44126. Catholic service will be held at St. Raphael’s Church, Bay Village, September 4th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org/cal.
