Dr Mayer was a fantastic dentist. He always made me laugh. I disliked going to the dentist until he became my dentist. He is greatly missed.

I am very saddened to learn of Dr. Mayer's passing.  He was a man of many talents and I enjoyed working with him. He will be missed.

To the family of Mike, I went to St. Angela Merici with Mike and then to St. Ignatius High. He was also my dentist. I never looked forward to going to the dentist until I started going to Mike. I really enjoyed our conversations catching up on old times. God bless you Mike!

I am deeply saddened to hear of Mike's sudden passing.  The German Community has lost a wonderful friend.  I will miss the lively conversations, his sense of humor and his accordion playing...especially his accordion serenades at the German Central Oktoberfest.  It will never be the same without him. I was truly shocked & saddened when I received word last Saturday night that Mike was in the hospital and even more so when fellow musician & friend, Herb Teubl, told me Monday a.m. that Mike had passed away.  My deepest condolences go to Ilse, Michael & Elizabeth.  Mike, I shall never forget how you, along with Pete Sadlon, Johnny Berger & Rudy Koch were one of the integral people in my life when I 1st joined the donauschwäbische Jugendgruppe @ the age of 15, and I TRULY loved the jamming we did, especially on the bus trips!  I will never 4get singing the 50's tune "Silhouettes" with you & Make Magvas.  
I shall miss you, my friend & will think on you & remember you w/ fondness!  Eins, Zwei, Drei, G'suffa!

I am deeply saddened to hear of your father's passing. It was through your posting on the JCU Psych face book page that I discovered your loss. When you were at JCU, you talked many times of your family. I could tell your were very close knit. 

It is difficult to find the right words to say to help ease your sorrow during these difficult times. Just know that my heart totally goes out to both of you. Your father must have been very proud of all your successes and accomplishments at JCU.

The German community lost a wonderful soul Monday morning. Accordion Mike's jovial presence at German Central, area Oktoberfests, and other clubs will be greatly missed. I always enjoyed seeing him stroll the grounds of German Central with his accordion and joining in an impromptu singalong of a polka or an "Eins Prosit."

I met him at Cleveland Maennerchor 7 or so years ago and he just cracked so many good jokes. He found out I liked a lot of accordion music and played me a lot of good tunes. My favorite that he played and he played it in a festive way was his Mike Mayer version of Squeeze Box. He enjoyed playing that song more than any. That was his song. There was no one that played it like him. I wish that he would have played it with The Who on stage. I always teased him about by opening my mouth so he can look at my teeth, just for fun and yucks. He was a learner of many languages and when he found out that my mother and I were Latvian he even went out of his way to learn a few phrases just for us. He made us feel so honored and special. That was what he was made of. He was made of bending over backwards to be a honest person. This I will not have the pleasure of being around anymore. I could not believe when I found out just a day of his diagnosis that less than a few days or so God would take this man so soon away. Maybe God did not want him to suffer too long. Maybe God wanted him home. He used to play with George and John at Maennerchor and maybe they wanted him in Heaven. The Trio is finally together now. But not here or Earth, in Heaven. To his family, I am forever sorry for your loss of Mike. To all his friends, we lost a friend indeed. To his co-workers and patients. You will not be able to have a good Dentist in your office or in your mouth that was like Mike. My deepest condolences to all. Dont know how this world is going to go on. I grew up with Mike, having gone to grade school and SIHS with him, often riding the old North Olmsted bus together.  His often goofy laugh and great sense of humor made those bus rides and awkward years a little less painful.  Although I haven't seen him but a couple times since high school, I have fond memories of Mike.  My condolences to all his friends and family on this sad loss.

Dr. Mayer was fun loving and always kept us laughing at work, he will certainly be missed by the staff and patients. His family is in my prayers and thoughts.

Mike was one of my best friends when we were growing up.   Being the only child in our respective families, we were almost like brothers.   We shared many things including our German heritage.  Mike was always a special guy.  The center of attention.  With a firm hand shake, a gleam in his eye, a hearty laugh and a quick joke.   He always had a sharp wit.  We shared many a conversation and several of us were inseparable during high school and college.
Mike was one of a kind.  A bright star.  I will miss him dearly.  Goodbye my friend you are now with God and your Mother and Father.  Auf wiedersehen my friend.

We were shocked to hear that Mike passed away. We've had many years of fun memories with him around, and will miss seeing him when we come to the Club functions in Ohio.   So sorry to all his family and loved ones.

My sincerest sympathies to you Ilse, Michael, and Elisabeth.  Mike was truly a unique person.  Singing, playing his accordion, and just being "festive".  Every time we saw each other, we just had to sing a couple of "Abba" songs together.  He was a true friend, and I will miss him dearly.
