I remember Michael as one of the very  bright students who represented his high school  when he appeared on the Academic Challenge television program.
At Cleveland Public Library, I know that Michael was a diligent researcher who in a friendly manner assisted library patrons both by finding answers to their questions and by providing helpful guidance in locating information sources. Michael was certainly a talented addition to the Cleveland Public Library staff.

Worked with Michael at the Fleet branch while a substitute at Cleveland Public in  the late 80s. So sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Mike Sparrow.  He was a good guy who I had the pleasure of spending time with. He was a big supporter of my writing on Cleveland boxing history.  I enjoyed meeting up for meals with Mike at local restaurants and pubs over the years with his longtime friend and co-worker, Bill Chase. He will be missed by many.

I don’t remember Mike specifically, but I remember his family when we were growing up at Holy Family in Parma. His brother Paul was a classmate and friend of my brother Gary.

Mike was an invaluable employee at Cleveland Public Library. He was a dogged researcher and a stickler for precise, well-sourced information--the type of employee upon whose dedicated work the Library's reputation as a premier institution was built. Mike was very generous to return to CPL in his retirement to help get the Social Sciences department's clipping file in order. Mike was a long-term RTA bus rider, as am I, and I will miss seeing him on the 55 Clifton line. He was one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences go to his family and friends.

I first met Mike at Kent State University in the 1970's.  I was fortunate to have met up with him years later and am thankful for his kindnesses and generosity.

I was so sorry to hear of Mike's passing.  I met him many years ago at the Syracuse Cinefest and I looked forward to seeing him every year after that initial meeting.  He was a kind and intelligent gentleman, and I shall always miss him and think of him.
