Robert Allen Knight, 69, entered into Heaven on April 9, 2021. He grew up in Cleveland with his parents Tom and Betty Knight, and Grandmother Emma Steigerwald (all deceased), and most recently lived at Our Lady of the Wayside group home in Fairview Park.
Robert loved partying with family and friends, excitedly preparing hours in advance of every event. He was always impeccably dressed, wearing suits with colorful ties and matching pocket squares, or his favorite cowboy ensemble with matching hat, belt buckle, gold boots and bola tie. He was a generous guest and always arrived bearing gifts of chocolates, artistic sketches, and heartfelt poetry. If you ever wondered where he was, it was usually partaking in his favorites: the shrimp bowl, chocolate dish, or pouring his next cup of coffee.
He especially looked forward to his birthday celebrations every year that had to include a steak restaurant, chocolate birthday cake, rum and coke, and presents of $20 bills. He also loved bowling with his team “The Dukes” and would proudly boast of his (possibly inflated) scores.
Robert was a hard worker and loved earning money for his travels. He adventured at dude ranches in Oregon, hung out with Mickey at Disney World, tested his luck in Las Vegas, and soaked up the sun in Fort Myers. His favorite was touring Nashville’s country music scene, and indulging in the sights and sounds of Graceland, where he’d belt out any Elvis song with joy in his heart.
He was a true gentleman and a beautiful soul…always optimistic, happy, sensitive, kind, generous.
His special presence will be greatly missed at family gatherings with cousins Ghiath and Jenny Daghstani, Ron (dec) and Judy Kornokovich, Gary Linden and their families. He will also be missed by devoted caregiver and cousin Mary Fallon, and especially by his guardian, cousin, and best friend Tom Fallon, who spent countless hours traveling, going to restaurants, and shopping with Robert.
Our family would like to express a sincere thank you to Robert’s Our Lady of the Wayside family for the attention, love, kindness, and help they gave him throughout his life. If you would like to honor Robert’s memory, please donate to Our Lady of the Wayside or Salvation Army, where Robert volunteered for many years.
