We only knew "Rollie" when he lived next door to Erin and Jason Samide, but we had several very nice conversations with him. Our sympathy to his famly.

My condolences on the passing of Rollie.  I'll never forget his support for you two as well as the entire St. Ed's Baseball Team during those great days in the sixties.  It seemed as though he was at every game lending his vocal support with such ditties as 1) "Open a Can of Beans!" and 2) "Can of Corn!"  It took me years to figure out what he was saying, but I think he meant 1) start a Rally and 2) easy catch.  Hope Saint Peter can get it faster than I did!

I am very sorry learning about the loss of your father and my uncle.
Although the years have passed by, I can still vividly remember the excitement I had in visiting "Uncle Rollie" on our summer trips to Cleveland.  The detached garage being full of baseball and softball equipment...like being in a candy store...I can also remember his multiple visits to us in Florida...his sense of humor was above all. Most important, "Uncle Rollie was a godsend when my Mom passed away..I am so greatful for the weeks he spent with us...helping us get through such a tough time in our lives
As a kid, "Uncle Rollie" was it and has blessed me with some great memories.

Dear Gary and Family,
It is with profound empathy that I write to you now, understanding fully what each of you is experiencing because I too have been through a time like this with my own father (in October 1999).  Your father's crossing over into eternity can become a powerful source of comfort and joy-filled memories, as my father's crossing over has been for me.  During the last week of his life, countless souls became present for me and our daughter, and when my Papa breathed his last, there was an overwhelming sense of jubilation from all those souls.  Within two days of his passing, he told me that everything we have been taught about heaven is true and is more beautiful than can be put into words.  It takes some courage to open up to all the love coming from the other side, and it is baby steps for many, but the encouragement and smiles and genuine laughter are worth every effort!
Thank you, Gary, for being the kindest person it was my privilege to know at First Federal of Lakewood, and thank you for your service to the United States of America.  I will ALWAYS treasure the conversations we had as much as I treasure YOU!!

He used to wait at the same bus stop as I did - on the corner of Storer and W. 52 Street.  In the early morning hours I always felt safe because Mr. Fix was there waiting with me! Gary, so sorry to hear about your dad. I remember him well. He was an avid St. Eds basketball fan/supporter and movie cameraman extraordinaire. He must have shot miles of film of you playing b-ball for the Eagles! He'll be missed. Your 1964 teammate...
