

Born in Dartmouth, a daughter of the late Melville W. and Annie (McAuley) Sisson, she was a life-long resident of Fall River.
A true homemaker at heart, she always had a full house. She extended a warm welcome to all of the neighborhood children and created wonderful memories through her giving and kind spirit. She worked at the Adams House and Home for the Aged for many years.
Barbara was a huge Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed visiting Fenway Park. She liked to sew and enjoyed bowling. She was a long-time communicant of the former Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Fall River, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathryn A. Dow and her husband Howland of Fall River; two sons, Arthur M. Tansey and his partner Amy Rebello of Fall River and John R. Tansey and his wife Susan of West Barnstable; daughters-in law, Pauline Tansey and Denise Thibeault; eight grandchildren, James Dow and his wife Sara of Taunton, Katelynne Garant and her husband Kyle of Somerset, Kevin Tansey of Fall River, Declan Tansey of Fall River, Lauren Tansey and her partner Shane Lima of Dartmouth, Christopher Tansey, Matthew Tansey and Nicole Nunes all of Fall River; seven great-grandchildren, Savannah, Olivia, Grayson, Lucas, Lilianna, Braedyn and Averie and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late William Tansey and sister of the late Muriel Perry, Melville and Allen Sisson.
Her Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 1335 N. Main St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Sarah Brayton Activities Fund, 4901 N. Main St. Fall River, MA 02720.
