Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Herbert L. and Mary M. (Brooks) Boynton. Bruce earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Rhode Island College and dedicated 25 years of his life to teaching special education at Barrington High School, retiring in 1991.
Outside the classroom, Bruce had a deep love for farming and animals, and he cherished spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Choy Chuen Chhon, and his wife Layan of Providence; his sister, Gail Gousie of Tiverton; and five beloved grandchildren: Jennifer Chhon and Joanna O’Mara, both of Cranston; Steven Chhon and his wife Jocelyn, Ella Chhon, and Ethan Chhon, all of Providence.
He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews: Mark Gousie of Tiverton, Christine Crawford of Fall River, Bruce Gousie of Florida, Kim Glenn of Rehoboth, Roberta Gousie of Berkley, Mary Snow of Cumberland, Rochelle Correia of Florida, Megan Gousie of East Providence, and Benjamin Gousie of Attleboro. He was the uncle of the late Jason and Todd Gousie.
