Born in Fall River, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Fontes) Morris, he was a lifelong resident of the city.
A Veteran of the United States Army, he served during WWII as a Corporal. Mr. Morris was a firefighter for the City of Fall River for 34 years before retiring in 1989 and was at the Globe Station for most of his career. He also worked at Flint Hardware for numerous years and owned and operated Charles J Morris Realty.
A member of the Over the Hill Gang, he also belonged to the Retired Fall River Municipal and State and County Municipal Employees Associations. An avid reader and a true history buff, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his two daughters, Patricia Thomason and her husband Bruce of Branchburg, NJ and Nancy Landis and her husband David of Fall River; daughter-in-law, Michelle Morris of Fall River, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Dr. Kenneth C. Morris and brother of the late Irene Silvia and Norman Morris.
His Funeral will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 9:00 AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Holy Rosary Church, 120 Beattie St., Fall River. Visiting hours Sunday from 3:00 – 6:00 PM. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Kenneth C. Morris, V85 Memorial Scholarship at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University 200 Westboro Rd North Grafton MA 01536. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
