Claire Smith Reilly

Born and raised in Swansea, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Julia (Ryan) Roderick. She graduated from Joseph Case High School, Union Hospital School of Nursing, and Roger Williams University.

While raising her four children in Tiverton, she worked as an operating room nurse at Union/Charlton Hospital for many years and enjoyed playing golf at Montaup Country Club. She served as the first female cooperate officer of Montaup and relished winning the longest drives in golf tournaments. Traveling and sailing were joys in her life as well. Her ten grandchildren brought her great happiness!

She is survived by three sons: Dr. John J. “Jack” Smith III and his wife Kathleen of Winston Salem, NC, Dr. Richard W. Smith of Tiverton, Christopher M. Smith and his wife Ellen of Rye, NY, one daughter: Anne Marie Smith of Lincoln, MA, three step-children: James A. Reilly of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin D. Reilly of Warren, RI, Terrie-Anne Reilly Booth of Cranston, ten grandchildren: Maura, Garrett, Conal, Matthew, Tricia, Timothy, Meghan, Jacqueline, Christopher, Connor, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Richard Roderick and Theresa Shaw.

Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 8:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Friday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472, www.alzfdn.org. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
