Dennis D. Griffin

Dennis D. Griffin, age 78, of Fall River, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Kathleen (Moran) Griffin to whom he had been married for 56 years.

Born in Fall River, the son of the late Daniel and Catherine (Conlan) Griffin, he was a lifelong resident of the city and a 1956 graduate of BMC Durfee High School. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Bradford Durfee Tech and later earned his Master’s Degree from Bridgewater State College.

Mr. Griffin was an Educator and Guidance Counselor in the Fall River Public Schools for 40 years, retiring in 2000. He would later work at SSTAR for 16 years until March of 2016. He was a communicant of Holy Name Church, where he was a lector. He was the former director of religious education at St. Thomas More Church in Somerset and a member of the Clover Club.

In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by four children: Jeffrey D. Griffin and his wife Cindy of Milford, MA, Gretchen Baptiste and her husband Dave of Westport, Timothy P. Griffin and his wife Deborah of Somerset and Janie Griffin of Fall River; a sister Eileen Barlow of Fall River, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late John P. Griffin and Rosiland Garcia.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 9am from the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by his Funeral Mass at 10am in Holy Name Church 709 Hanover St., Fall River.
