Harold R. Solomon, “Harry” age 76, of Fall River, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Hope Health Hospice in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the husband of Judith (Myers) Solomon, to whom he has been married for the past 55 years.
Born in Fall River, a son of the late Melvin and Margaret (Gajoli) Solomon, he had been a lifelong resident of the city.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served as an E5 during the Vietnam War. During active duty he was a helicopter crew chief and aircraft maintenance mechanic.
Harry retired as an exterminator from the Newport Naval Base where he started his career as a heavy-duty mechanic. He was also a member of the police force at the base.
A lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 207, Westport, he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 9, Fall River. Harry was an avid amateur ham radio operator and enjoyed fishing, most recently developing an enthusiasm for fly fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Kristie Harding and her husband James of North Attleboro; six sisters, Charlotte Treeful of Fall River, Theresa Thibault and her husband Bob of Fall River, Nancy Sullivan of Somerset, Joann Solomon of Fall River, Rhonda Goulart and her husband Fred of Tiverton, Paula Flores of Fall River; four brothers, Paul Solomon and his wife Sharon of Westport, Robert Solomon and his wife Cindy of Rehoboth, Raymond Solomon of Fall River, William “Billie” Solomon of Fall River; two grandchildren, Lillian and Elaina Harding and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Maureen Almeida.
His Funeral will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 10:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his honor may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 9, 755 Pine St., Fall River, MA 02720, please include in the memo for the Homeless Veteran Fund or to the Vietnam Veterans, Chapter 207 Color Guard, PO Box 1214 Westport , MA 02790. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
