

Joseph T. Silvia Jr., age 45 of Fall River passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 in the Catholic Memorial Home after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He was the husband of Christine A. (White) Silvia to whom he had been married for 21 years.
He was born in Fall River the son of the late Joseph T. Silvia Sr. and the late Jeanne L. (Lynch) Silvia and a 1984 graduate of Diman Regional Vocational High School. After graduation Joe enlisted in the United States Navy where he served honorably until 1987 and upon his discharge served another three years in the Naval Reserve.
Most recently Joe was employed as a Maintenance Mechanic and Boiler Operator with Charlton Memorial Hospital for ten years until his retirement due to his illness, prior to that he was Ship Builder with Gladding Hearn in Somerset for 11 years. Joe was a New England Sports fan and an avid New England Patriots Fan.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his three children Elizabeth, Jessica and Jeannette Silvia all of Fall River; five sisters Patricia Souza of Fall River, Virginia Pires of Dighton, Kathleen LeBlanc of Fall River, Joanne Gregory of Little Compton and Cynthia Dunn of Milford, NH; two brothers David Silvia of Ohio and James Silvia of Fall River and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 10am in Good Shepherd Parish,1598 South Main St., Fall River. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7pm in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Please omit flowers.
