

Marjorie (Mortimer) Kenney, R.N., age 98, of Fall River, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016, in the Crawford Nursing Home. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late George Edward Mortimer and Nina (Boutilier) Mortimer, she moved to Fall River in 1947 with her husband, the late Dr. William E. Kenney, M.D.
A graduate of Plainfield High School in Connecticut, class of 1935, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Connecticut College in 1939 and her Master’s degree from Yale University School of Nursing in 1941, where she served as an Instructor in Nursing. A past President of the Ninth Street Day Nursery, she was also a volunteer at Charlton Memorial Hospital, a founder of Planned Parenthood in Fall River, and an active member of the Church of the Ascension.
Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter Kathryn, at their summer home on Moosup Pond in the Town of Plainfield, Connecticut.
She is survived by two sons; Atty. William G. Kenney and his wife Deborah M. of Fall River, David P. Kenney of Waterford, CT, one granddaughter; Kathryn E. Kenney of Brighton, MA, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Dorothy Fuller.
