

Mary E. (Bogan) Pomfret, RN, age 83 of Fall River, MA passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. Mary was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Hugh F. and Evelyn C. (Gilligan) Bogan. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and earned her degree in nursing from the Truesdale Hospital School of Nursing.
Mary married Paul A. Pomfret and moved to Clifton, NJ, where she raised her family and worked as a nurse. She returned to Massachusetts where she started her own business, Exclusively Nails, in Swansea and then went on to continue her nursing career in a management position at the Women and Infants Fertility Center in Providence, RI until her retirement in 2004. Mary was a fiercely independent woman of great faith, who loved caring for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
Mary was the loving mother of Elizabeth A. Pomfret MD, Ph.D. and her husband James J. Pomposelli, MD, Ph.D. of Cherry Hills Village, CO, Paul D. Pomfret of Palm Beach, FL, Patricia K. Andrade and her husband Donald P. of Portsmouth, RI and Jacqueline M. Kirby and her husband Christopher H. of West Chester, PA; seven grandchildren Connor R. and Ashley E. Andrade, Sophia M. Pomposelli, Caitlin E., Nicole E., Connor C., and Christian M. Kirby. She was the sister of Daniel E. Bogan and his wife Jean of Fall River and the late F. Paul Bogan and Hugh F. Bogan. She is also remembered by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Libera Service, which will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at 9 AM in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, 30 Fenner St., in Providence, RI. Her burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Fall River. Mary’s visitation will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022, from 5 to 7 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. For directions, please visit: www.waring-sullivan.com
