Mary E. Sullivan RN

Mary Elizabeth Harrington Sullivan, RN, age 75, of Portsmouth, RI and Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Fall River, MA passed away at home on July 9, 2011 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of David T. Sullivan to whom she had been married for the past 51 years.

She was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Francis H. and Catherine (Curry) Harrington and was a longtime resident of the city.

She was a graduate of the former Academy of Sacred Heart, Class of 1953, and the Truesdale School of Nursing, Class of 1956. A Registered Nurse for over 40 years, Mrs. Sullivan worked at Truesdale Hospital, Charlton Memorial Hospital and the Fall River School Department.

She was a communicant of St. Anthony Church of Portsmouth, RI, St. Mark Church, Boynton Beach, FL and for many years a member the Holy Name Parish of Fall River.

She was the beloved mother of 2 sons: David D. Sullivan and wife Dianne, of Woodbury, MN; Daniel F. Sullivan of Norwood, NY; 3 daughters: Laureen A. Berglund and husband Mark of No. Kingstown, RI; Mary Beth Berube and husband David of No. Attleboro, MA; and Sheila M. Duval of Fall River, MA. She was grandmother to 12 grandchildren: Collin, Matthew and Alison Berglund; Katelynn, Danielle and Thomas Sullivan; Catherine, Elena, Harrison and Robert Berube; Rebecca and Rachel Duval. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 9:00 AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St. Fall River with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St. Fall River. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to Truesdale Hospital Nurses Alumnae Association, P.O. Box 9215, Fall River, MA 02720. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
