
Attorney Raymond G. Mullen, Jr. died peacefully at Charlton Memorial Hospital Thursday, December 30th.He was born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1937 to Raymond G. Mullen and Irene (Cook) Mullen. Ray grew up in Somerset and graduated in 1955 from Somerset High School, where he developed a love of history and politics. He later graduated from Bradford Durfee College of Technology, majoring in Business. There, a course in Business Law piqued his interest in the legal system and inspired him to attend Suffolk University School of Law, where he received his law degree. For a number of years Ray worked in the law office of Richard N. Lasalle. He then worked as an Assistant District Attorney for Bristol County, a position he loved, until retiring in 2003. Ray was respected by his peers for his dedication to his profession and the legal system.
He is survived by his sister Alyce Brezinski(husband Richard) and his nieces, Elisabeth Villanueva and Cathy Brezinski. He was predeceased by his former wife, Joyce Leach. His step-children, Cheryl, Christopher, Greg and Walter Leach also survive him.
At his request, there are no services. Donations in Ray’s name may be made to the National Merchant Marine Memorial Fund at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 101 Academy Drive, Buzzards Bay, MA, 02532.
