Ruth (Robinson) Williams, 98, of Somerset died November 25, 2021. She was the widow of David Williams. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Jane (Taylor) Robinson. She resided in Swansea for many years and returned to Fall River upon the death of her husband. She was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1940, and Bryant College, Class of 1942, with a BSS degree.
Ruth was a member of the First Congregational Church of Fall River, where she served as Church Secretary for 28 years, retiring in 1993. Before that, she was the Church Secretary at the Church of the Ascension of Fall River for 9 years.
Ruth was a member of the Fall River Woman’s Club. She also served on various committees at First Congregational Church and was a member of the Ladies Benevolent Society.
Surviving are one daughter, Gale O’Neil of Portsmouth, RI, and husband Stephen; a granddaughter, Bethany Neumann of Alexandria, VA, and husband Michael; a grandson, Jason O’Neil of Somerville, MA, and wife Amanda; and one great granddaughter, Madelyn O’Neil.
The family would like to thank the staff at Clifton Skilled Nursing Center and Hospice where Ruth received excellent care.
The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 1:00 PM in the First Congregational Church, 282 Rock St., Fall River, followed by her burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Flowers are welcome.
