Salwa "Sally" Chaves

Mrs. Salwa (Sally) Baroody Chaves, wife of the late George Chaves, left us peacefully at the age of 96. Born in Fall River, MA, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret Baroody, and sister of the late Ernest (Baron) Baroody.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Ms. Wendy Correira, and her treasured granddaughters, Sarah Sullivan (Correira) and her husband Michael and Jillian Correira and her fiance Bryan Archambault. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted, lifelong member of the Calvary United Presbyterian Church, and dedicated much of her life to the family business and serving in the Fall River School Department. She was a long-time member of Baker’s Beach Club in Westport, MA.

The family would like to give special thanks to Bristol Elder Services and Southcoast VNA for their compassionate care over the last few years, especially Shannon, Sharon, Ashley, and Karen. An extra special thanks to her closest friends, Monica Medeiros and Marilyn Oliveira, who aided in her care. No words can truly express our gratitude.

Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 10:00AM in the Calvary United Presbyterian Church, 216 Harrison St., Fall River. Those wishing to attend are kindly asked to proceed directly to the church and arrive no later than 9:45 AM. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Calvary United Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 4101, Fall River, MA 02723. Burial will be private.
