Sigrid E. (Connolly) Allison, age 81, passed away Friday March 20, 2015 in Southeastern Massachusetts Health and Rehabilitation Center in New Bedford. She was the former wife of the late Norman Allison, Jr.
Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Paul R. and Doris G. (Donovan) Connolly, she was a lifelong area resident.
She attended BMC Durfee High School and like many young women at this time, Sigrid left high school to work in Fall River's factories to help out at home. She completed her G.E.D., received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree from the Diman Regional School of Practical Nursing, and her Registered Nursing Degree from Bristol Community College at the age of 39. She also loved computers and when they first came out she took classes, built and programmed her own.
A Registered Nurse, she worked for the Brockton V.A. Hospital for many years and at the Bristol County House of Corrections before retiring in 2003. She volunteered at the Brockton VA, loved crocheting, reading, taking trips to Foxwoods Resorts and Casinos, and traveling especially to Ireland.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Southeastern Massachusetts Health and Rehabilitative Center for their loving and compassionate care over the past eight years.
She is survived by three daughters: Joyce Allison-Saucier and her husband Michael of Middleboro, Marilyn D. Allison-Macedo and her husband Robert of New Bedford, and Joan Allison of Middleboro, three granddaughters: Katherine Saucier, and Mary Katherine and Anne Macedo. She was sister of the late Carol Ann Connolly-DeCosta.
Contributions in her honor may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250. Private arrangements are in the care of WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE. For tributes: www.waring-sullivan.com
