Sister Therese Landry (Sr. Marie Angeline) SUSC died January 27 at Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River at the age of ninety-two. Sr. Therese was born in Chelsea, MA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Marthe (Cormier) Landry. Her sister, Marie Landry and brothers Joseph and Francis Landry predeceased her. Her sister Jeanne (Landry) Federman of Maryland as well as nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews survive her.
A graduate of Chelsea High School, Sr. Therese entered the Holy Union Sisters on September 13, 1947. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Catholic Teachers College, Providence, and a Masters Degree from St. Michael College, Winooski VT.
Sr. Therese taught in elementary schools staffed by the Holy Union Sisters in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She left teaching and became responsible for the food services in Holy Union Convents in Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island. Sr. Therese served as school secretary in her home parish of Our Lady of the Assumption in Chelsea for fourteen years. She joined the retirement community at St. Mary’s Convent, North Attleboro in 1990 where she provided service to the elderly and taught religious education in the parish. She joined the Holy Union Sisters at the Landmark in 2003 where she enjoyed all the activities available to the residents. In 2014 Sr. Therese moved to Catholic Memorial Home due to failing health.
All funeral arrangements will be on Friday, February 2 at the chapel of St. Margaret Mary, Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 Highland Avenue, Fall River, MA. The wake is at 9:00 am followed by the Prayer Vigil at 10 am and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Arrangements are by Waring-Sullivan Funeral Home, Fall River, MA.
