

Thurley was born in Tiverton, RI, daughter of the late William N. and Carrie E. (Bailey) Andrews. She worked in Fall River, MA until she was 22, when she moved to Washington, D.C. There she worked for the Federal Railroad Retirement Board and the Office of Defense Transportation while attending night school to obtain her high school diploma and college degree. She graduated from George Washington University in 1946 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. She then worked for the Bureau of Public Roads as a transportation economist until her retirement in 1972.
She was an active member of the Ski Club of Washington, D.C., serving as a treasurer and board member as well as being an avid Washington Redskins football fan. She married James Bostick in 1950 and they spent 65 years together until his passing in December 2015. After retirement, she and her husband kept active with volunteer work, swimming and traveling.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Bostick and her son-in-law Ave Tucker of Orinda, CA, and her granddaughters, Rachel Tucker of Madison, WI and Kelly Tucker of Orinda, CA. She is also survived by her sister, Cynthia Roberts and brother-in-law Roger Roberts, of Newport, RI in addition to numerous nephews and nieces.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 11:00AM at the First Baptist Church, 7 Old Stone Rd., Tiverton, RI. Relatives and friends invited. Burial will follow in Pocasset Hill Cemetery in Tiverton. Arrangements are in the care of Waring-Sullivan Home of the Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place in Fall River, MA.
