Audrey J Reynolds

Of Ruckersville, Virginia, died May 18, 2016 after a 10-month courageous battle with lung cancer. Audrey was a caring and passionate woman who loved adventure and travel and was unconditionally devoted to her family and friends. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Helen and George Humphrey. Audrey grew up in Vienna, Virginia where she graduated in the first senior class of Oakton High School. After graduation she began employment with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). In 1972, she accepted a position in the Defense Attaché Office in Athens, Greece where she met and married the love of her life, U.S. Marine Embassy Guard Gary Reynolds. Audrey embraced the military life and supported her husband throughout his career and many deployments and moves. After Gary's retirement from the Marine Corps in June 1999, they settled in Alexandria, VA and Audrey returned to work for the DIA. In 2010 they relocated to Ruckersville, VA and in 2014 Audrey retired from DIA. Audrey is survived by Gary, her loving husband of 41 years; her devoted sons, Gary Reynolds, Jr. and Chris Reynolds; her sisters, Sally Beauch and Nancy Cruise; six nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends around the world. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, George Humphrey, IV.

A memorial service to celebrate Audrey's life will be held at the National Funeral Home in Falls Church once a date has been scheduled for interment at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Audrey's memory are suggested to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, VA 22911, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
