Barbara Jane Kinder

She was born April 16, 1960 in Washington, DC, the daughter of the late Richard and Jane Kinder. Barbie grew up in Springfield, VA. and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1978. She attended Radford University graduating in 1983 with a degree in medical technology. She completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing with honors in 1994, through the accelerated program at George Mason University. Barbie was active in the Sigma Theta Tau international Honor Society of Nursing and devoted many years to providing home health care, especially focusing on maternal/children’s health.

Her passions were reading, horses and traveling around the world. She has many photographs of people and places she visited.

Miss Kinder is survived by her only sister, Miss Nancy Kinder of Falls Church, VA.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 31, 2013 at Murphy Funeral Home, Falls Church, VA.

A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Carter Cemetery in Covington, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in Barbie's memory, to the Joseph C. Monastra Foundation for Pancreatic Research at www.jcmfoundation.org.
