Barney C Black passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 29, 2015 after a valiant battle against his ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). His most recent job titles
included in reverse order: Senior Systems Engineer, Principal Engineer, Engineering Supervisor, and Sales Engineer. Job titles from the beginning included
TV repairman, low-cost housing renovator, diving manager, nondestructive tester of nuclear submarines, and aluminum siding salesman. However, the title
he loved most of all was Champion-at-Large for the Integrated Product Teams of the US Coast Guard’s failed Deepwater Project. Hobbies included Vietnam
War protestor, SCUBA diver, and Kindle reader. Barney also served on the Board of Directors of the International Hydrofoil Society and both published its
newsletter and maintained its website. Barney’s lifelong motto is: Semper Cogitans -- Nil Amplius Solvendum (Always Thinking – No Extra Charge). He is
survived by his wife and two sons; Helena C Black, Robert J. Black, and R. Terry Black; and remembered fondly by his brother and sister, John R. Black and
Nancy Dillard. Finally, this from beyond the grave: “This is Barney Black. I approved this obituary.”
