Betty was born in Cumberland, MD, to Roy Chadwick May and Eleanor Jane Elliott May on June 28, 1947.
After working as an accountant for many years, Betty took over property management for her family’s Northern Virginia real estate business.
Betty is preceded in death by her father, Roy Chadwick May, her mother, Eleanor “Jane” Elliott May, her two sisters, Beverly Jane May Joseph and Barbara Ann May, and her niece, Kimberly Joseph Lockerbie.
Betty is survived by two nieces, Elizabeth Ann Morrel and her husband, William Griffin Morrel III, and Eleanor Joseph Mayes and her husband, Thomas Christopher Mayes, as well as an army of beloved great- and great grand- nieces and nephews.
The family of Betty wishes to extend sincere thanks to UNC Rex Hospital and Transitions LifeCare of Raleigh.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in Betty’s honor in Raleigh, North Carolina, and she will be buried at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Virginia.
