

“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Boungnavala "La" Bouttavong, who died at 61 on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. The tenth of twelve children, La was born on August 15, 1963, in Vientiane, Laos. La immigrated to the United States in 1978 at age 15. He married Chandara Chanthaphasouk in 1990, and together they raised two children, Nimithchit “Clint” (31) and Phonnimith “Arlene” (27).
La was known for his outgoing spirit, he was boisterous, friendly, and the life of every party. He cherished gatherings and time with family and friends, often having a Johnny Walker Black and Perrier in hand while he told stories.
A mechanic for over 30 years, La spent most of his career at Bill Page Toyota in Falls Church, Virginia.
La was an avid fisherman who spent countless hours at the water locally and abroad. He enjoyed growing vegetables in his home, raising chickens, watching sports, primarily football and soccer. He was a soccer enthusiast that played and also coached his teams through many wins.
La will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the laughter he inspired, the lessons he passed down, and the many lives he touched. He leaves behind a family who adored him, countless friends who will miss his lively spirit, and memories that will be cherished forever.”
