Carol and I had many memory making trips since our meeting at Worldcom in 1997. This one was during our “what happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas” trip. She was never without a laugh or smile or snarky comment to make me laugh. Forever cherish these trips my sister

To my best friend: I've been trying to find the words for an hour now and nothing feels adequate. My heart hurts. Who knew the very thing that brought us together would ultimately take you from me?

The world lost a genuine soul. If she thought I was having a bad day, she'd porch drop me flowers. She'd cook me taco soup when I was sick. The hugs she gave me were like I was the best person on earth. She would just hold onto me for minutes at a time. Laughing until our stomachs hurt on game nights. Doing shots of Dr Stoners and watching her try so hard not to screw up her face and then getting mad at me because my face never changed. 😂 All of the sage work advice when things were driving me crazy, the countless things we had in common, the funny jokes. (TIGHTEN UP!)  She would make you feel so important on your birthday. She loved to give gifts. She just loved to give, period.  If Carol loved you, it was forever.

Very few people love me for who I am, no questions asked. I'm not an easy person to love. I'm full of opinions, sassy, and I may say things that hurt some feelings. She loved me, no matter what. Not many people get that in life, so I know precisely how fortunate I was to have her as my best friend. 
She made me feel seen. Like I mattered in this crazy world where people don't have time for one another anymore, it seems. She listened to me and genuinely tried to make me happy and that's something amazing. 
I don't know that I'll ever stop grieving this loss. It cuts deep. My only sense of relief is knowing that she's in a place where she doesn't have to be the strong one anymore, a place where she only feels loved and safe. We talked about that at length last Tuesday afternoon. By now she's whole, and she's soaking up the love from Priscilla, Goombah and Howdy. One day I will see her again, and I hope to get one of those hugs.

This world was a better place for having her in it.  My love goes out to everyone missing her now.
