

Conchita Soler died on July 10, 2023 at her retirement home, The Kensington, in Falls Church, Virginia. She was 96 years old. A native of Cuba, she was born in Santiago de Cuba, the daughter of America Chaves-Figueredo and Enrique Hernandez-Miyares, an attorney and professor. She was educated in Havana, Cuba and completed a portion of her secondary studies in the United States in the Queens borough of New York City. In 1957, she married Jorge Leoncio Soler, a native of Barcelona who had moved to Cuba, and the couple began a life together in Havana, Cuba.
In 1960, she and Jorge (Jordi) fled the communist revolution in Cuba for New York City and later settled in Buffalo, New York, where they were both naturalized as United States citizens. In 1968, she moved with her husband and children to Falls Church, Virginia. From 1977-1987, Conchita worked at IBM in Tysons Corner, Virginia as a coordinator dispatching engineering technicians to service mainframe computers. During retirement, she dedicated herself to the raising of her grandchildren. Conchita is survived by her three sons, Michael, George, and Joseph, and her grandchildren, Natalie, Hannah, and Jordi.
A funeral service for Conchita will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St. James Catholic Church, 905 Park Ave, Falls Church, VA 22046. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
