Doris was born in the town of Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico on July 23, 1948. She was the first child of Casimiro Rodriguez and Natividad Renta. She was raised by her beloved grandmother, Maria E. Anguita, who instilled in her a deep sense of family values. She went to elementary, intermediate, and high schools in Ponce, P.R. She married in July 1969, and for two years she studied nursing at the Catholic University of Puerto Rico.
Later, she worked for the Puerto Rico Department of Education for 17 years as a dining room assistant, where she put her love for children and friendliness to great use. She enjoyed gardening, home decoration, and crafts. But having navigated life with grace and resilience, Doris devoted herself to the love of her life: her youngest son, Lennin.
Doris is preceded in death by her father, Casimiro Rodriguez, and her grandparents, Maria E. Anguita and Erasmo Rodriguez. She is survived by her two loving sons, Samuel and Lennin, her cherished grandsons, Peter Samuel and Leonardo, her sisters, Carmin and Vilma, her brothers, Carlos and Luis, and her mother, Natividad.
A memorial service officiated by Rev. Wilson and a reception to celebrate Doris' life will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 3:00 pm at the National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations to the Nativity Catholic Church in Burke, Virginia, would be appreciated.
Doris’ family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Ms. Vanessa M. Lagera, Rev. Cedric Wilson, and the Nativity Catholic Church, Dr. John K. Kim, and the nurses and staff at the Capital Caring Health Hospice.
She will be remembered for her warmth and kindness, which touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
Eternal rest grant unto Doris, Lord. And let your peace and perpetual light shine up on her. Amen.
