Dorothy S. Jackel

Dorothy “Dottie” Johanna Schwenke Jackel, aged 96, formerly of St. Albans, Merrick, NY and Falls Church, VA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2019 in her home. Dorothy is survived by her three children, Susan Derrico Sands, William “Jake” Jackel, and Paul George Jaeckel and his wife Sharon Lupardi Jaeckel and seven grandchildren ( Alex, Christian, Eric, Treacy, Michelle, Peter and Caitlin. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Frederick Jackel. Dorothy was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 17, 1923 to the late George and Maria Schwenke. She married William Jackel October 31, 1943. Dorothy retired from retail at Abraham Straus Department store where she sold Jewelry and Fine China. She was an avid gardener and loved to bird watch. A Memorial Service and reception will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Church, 3022 Woodlawn Ave, Falls Church, VA.
