IN THE CARE OF
Murphy Funeral Homes
Ed was born in Kingston, PA. After graduating from high school, he joined the US Navy during the Korean conflict, and was subsequently employed by the Navy Department in many different civilian ADP positions before retiring after 42 years of distinguished service.
He was an avid Red Sox and Packers fan, but mostly enjoyed watching and cheering for his children and grandchildren as they played on their various sports teams.
Ed was married to his wife, Martha for 66 years; both were founding and active members of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church (OLGC), in Vienna, VA. He is also survived by his sisters, Louise Zellock and Marie Zdancewicz; and his seven children, Raymond (Sandy), Marilyn Minor, Bernard (Virgie), Rebecca (Kevin) Hoisington, Donald (Heather), Kimberly (Solon) Vlasto, and Jeffrey (Shannon). Ed along with Martha have 13 grandchildren: Kevin (Cameron), Matt, Danny, Zach, Joel, Kara, Thomas, Andrew, Lydia, Alex, Will, Hannah, and Morgan plus three great-grandchildren: Nicholas, John, and Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his daughter Elaine, grandson Christopher, and son-in-law Steve Minor.
Visitation will be at Murphy Funeral Home in Falls Church, VA on April 15 from 6-8pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at OLGC on April 16 at 10am followed by burial services at Fairfax Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, you can send donations for a box of baseballs to the Vienna Little League, Babe Ruth League, or the Falls Church Post 130 American Legion team.
