Elvie,

Thank you for your kindness and warmth in all that you did.  The class that you brought into any situation was something that is admirable.  All that knew Elvie will miss her.

I was always treated so nice by Elvie, she showed class in all that she did.  All that knew Elvie were warmed by her presence and grace, she will be missed everyday.

I am still in shock over Elvie's sudden and untimely passing.  Almost everyday I recall our coffee/tea afternoon's, our shopping trips to TJ Maxx and other nearby stores. What a beautiful, grand lady your mother was.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and hope that you and your family find the strength to help you bear her passing. I regret that I will not be able to say one last "Auf Weidersehn" to my friend in person but will have to say it in my heart.

So sorry that Elvie is no longer with us. She was a familiar sight at Southampton. Ofter cleaning her car and the steps to her condominium, she was there to greet neighbors when they came by.

Heidi, I am so sorry to hear of your Mothers passing, she was a loving, caring Mother who enjoyed life. She taught us style, grace and how to be strong independent women. Thank you Elvie you were a great role model. All my Love, Lisa

What a Beautiful Lady, Elvie, I will miss your presence at the table this Season. So many Holiday's we shared as Family together, I Loved so much your Elegant Dress and the Lovely Hat's you would wear, such Class you carried with you. Never will I forget how we picked each other's name's from the hat when the family chose next year's gift recipient's, and how you alway's would compliment other's. I will alway's remember you with Great Fondness. Love You, Miss You.

I'm very sorry to learn of Elvie's death. I was one of those who joined her for lunch several times after she retired from U.S. News. We were honored to have a meal at her home more than once She was extremely proud of her daughter and adored her granddaughters. Elvie was an outstanding receptionist at the magazine, always perfectly and stylishly dressed, while being both courteous and absolutely firm in her duties. I will miss seeing her.

So sorry for your loss. Elvie was a good friend of mine for years. She would bring me flowers and candy on my birthday as a surprise. She came to Rosslyn to have lunch with me several times after I started working at POLITICO. She was a lovely person, so beautiful and talented. She had several of us U.S. News colleagues over for lunch at her home, and she was a fabulous cook. She always looked so nicely dressed--gorgeous outfits and pretty jewelry and exuded such style and glamour. She was such a lovely presence for those who entered U.S. News. I really enjoyed hearing all her interesting stories. She will be missed by many.
