

Mr. George Leonard Mocharko 79, of Fairfax, Virginia, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 6:21 am at his home with his family. Mr. Mocharko was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church, in Annandale, Virginia. He was a proud member of the Fairfax Host Lions Club, and served as King Lion in 1998. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Mr. Mocharko retired in 2001 from the National Transportation Safety Board, as an investigator for the pipeline safety division. His career as a petroleum engineer spanned working in the private sector for Columbia Gas, Consumers Power, and the U.S. Department of Transportation. He was also a licensed real estate agent in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Born August 14, 1934, in Pittsburgh, PA he was the son of George Mocharko and Mary Mocharko, (née Rusyn.) He and his wife, Linda Mocharko, were united in marriage on July 9, 1966, and remained married throughout their 47 years together. Survivors include, Linda Mocharko of Burgettstown, PA; his son George Lee Mocharko of Fairfax, VA; and his sister, Marianne Graczyk of Pittsburgh, PA.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Epiphany of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church, in Annandale, VA 22003. Father John Bazarab will officiate.
