George Michael Russell, 72, of Manassas, Virginia passed away with his family by his side on Friday, July 6, 2018. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Georgetta Russell; his two loving children Barbara Jean Raborn (Greg) and George Alan Russell; his two adored grandchildren Robert James Rotchford (Rachel) and Matthew Brian Rotchford; his great granddaughter Brooke Elizabeth Rotchford; his two brothers William T. Russell III (Donna) and James O. Russell; and his dear friend Renee Thomas and her children Nathan, Zachary, and Annie. George is preceded by his parents William T. Russell, Jr. and Virginia (Connelly) Russell; and his beloved son Michael A. Russell.
George was one of the founding members of the Potomac Bottle Club and was a profound member for many years. He collected many things and took the cherished items to shows with his wife, Georgetta. He enjoyed metal detecting, digging for bottles, and coin collecting, he also enjoyed wood working and made many display cases and cabinets for the valuables he collected throughout the years. George became a published writer in his younger years as well, sharing the stories, tips, and tricks of finding the perfect item. His memories will live on in the collectibles his family has from him and he will be dearly missed.
A visitation for George will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 from 5 pm to 9 pm. A celebration of life for him will be on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 10 am with a committal service to follow. All services will be held at National Funeral Home and National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.
