Passed away peacefully on January 9, 2015 at Georgetown University Hospital. "Chug" was born August 29, 1920 in St. Louis, MO. He enlisted in the US Army during World War II. In the 1960's he moved to Los Angeles and became a letter carrier. He joined the letter carrier's union and soon became president of Local Branch 24. While serving as local branch president he became Chairman of the Board of Trustee's of the National Letter Carrier's Association (NALC). He moved to Washington DC to serve as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer of the NALC and Chairman of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
Chug was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Frances, by his brother Uzell and sister Lillian. He is survived by his beloved wife, Paulette, by his children, Hollie, Halline, Frances,and Edward, by his 8 grandchildren and by 5 great grand children. He was previously married to Genevieve Walton and Lucille Overby, marriages which ended in divorce. Viewing will be at National Memorial Park, Falls Church VA on Tuesday, January 13 from 12 to 2 pm, followed by services at 2pm. In lieu of flowers send donations to the MDA or NALC
