Herbert Matthew Boggs Sr.

Herbert Matthew (Matt) Boggs, Sr, age 62 of Falls Church, VA, passed away on April 4, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Mary; their son Herbert Matthew (Herbie) Boggs, II, his wife, Cassie, and his three precious grandsons who were the light of his life; his brothers, Mike and Tommy, his sister, Mindy, many extended family members and his beloved dog Rocky.

Matt served in the U.S. Air Force. His service instilled great pride for his country. Anyone who knew Matt understood his enthusiastic political beliefs.

He enjoyed a few professional endeavors during his life including being a DJ, a heavy haul commercial truck driver, and everyone’s favorite handy-man. There was nothing that Matt couldn’t figure out how to fix. He also enjoyed coaching for various local youth sporting programs, as well as being a coach for the Marshall High School freshman football team. During the last several years of his life, his passion was taking on the role of Santa. Everyone knew Santa Boggs. Matt was a truly a bright light in the universe. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds. Matt will live on with those of us who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation for Matt will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 2 – 5 PM at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA, 22046. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
